Elon Musk has officially announced the presentation of a new‑generation Tesla Roadster. The event will take place on October 1, almost a decade after the model was first announced.

During the delay, the car’s concept underwent radical changes. Tesla engineers abandoned the idea of building the sports car from Model S Plaid components and completely reworked the project into a carbon‑fiber hypercar. The showpiece will be a limited edition Roadster equipped with cold‑gas thrusters developed by Musk’s space company SpaceX. For that reason, the reveal will be held not at a traditional auto‑show venue but at Musk’s test site in McGregor, Texas.

The surprise return of Tesla’s sports flagship car comes against the backdrop of the company’s aggressive expansion into autonomous mobility. Last week, Tesla began testing commercial rides in Austin with the two‑seat Cybercab robotaxi — vehicles built without a steering wheel or pedals. The October premiere aims to achieve a key goal: convince Wall Street that the automaker can not only refresh an aging core EV series but also reliably produce spectacular technology showcases that keep investors’ attention.
